Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Orientation and Mobility Specialist to join our team in Dubbo. As an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing O&M services to support individuals with vision impairment to develop, enhance and maintain independence in their activities of daily living.

The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Orientation & Mobility, current Certification of Orientation and Mobility Specialists (COMS) certification, and excellent communication skills. You will be able to travel regularly by car and domestic flights for overnight stays, and possess strong time management and organisational skills with flexibility for varying workloads.

You will be responsible for conducting individualised, comprehensive O&M assessments, synthesising findings in professionally written reports, and communicating results with clients, families and case teams as appropriate. Additionally, you will plan effective, instructional, client-centred Orientation and Mobility programs, train clients in orientation and mobility techniques across environments, and facilitate development of independence and problem solving in clients across travel situations in familiar and unfamiliar environments.
