About the Role

As a Research Project Officer, you will contribute to delivering solutions for the livestock industry. You will be part of a skilled team in a research unit and join Australia's National Science Agency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to research projects that deliver solutions for the livestock industry, focused on reducing methane emissions from grazing cattle and improving productivity.
  • Work with cattle in pen and paddock environments, preparing feed and diet supplements, maintaining and cleaning animal facilities, operating cattle respiration systems, calibrating and servicing remote sensing equipment, and collecting data.
  • Perform routine animal handling or operational tasks, design and perform protocols to achieve research objectives, collect samples according to defined standards, identify and report anomalies, assist in establishing experiments, monitor and record results, design new processes or apparatus by adapting existing techniques, and communicate effectively with staff, clients, and suppliers.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A tertiary level degree or equivalent relevant work experience in livestock husbandry.
  • Demonstrated livestock experience, general husbandry, understanding animal behavior, and ability to accurately record data.
  • Skills in using data entry and analysis software and a current driver's license.
