Maritime Structural Engineer Opportunity

This exciting opportunity is available to join a leading engineering team in Sydney, working on large-scale maritime projects. As a Maritime Structural Engineer, you will be involved in the design and planning activities for various industries, including defence, local government, state government, ports, and sustainability.

You will apply your existing experience across these different industries, gaining exposure to new and interesting projects. You will be supported by and work with a range of other disciplines.

The role involves leveraging your maritime structural experience to deliver concept designs through to construction phase support. While this is primarily a technical role, you will have opportunities for leadership (project management and design management), and business development (proposal preparation and client positioning).

  • Experience in structural design, including reinforced concrete and steel in the marine environment.
  • Designing, evaluating, and reporting on ports, harbours, coastal works, and marine structures.
  • Berthing and mooring systems expertise.
  • Proficiency in using structural analysis software (SPACE GASS, Strand 7, IDEAStatica).
  • Working with local governments, port clients, and/or the Defence sector.
  • Mastery of Australian and international design codes and guidelines.
  • Ability to guide and mentor junior staff.
  • Project managing and/or design managing small maritime projects.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (or ability to get chartership within agreed timeframe).
  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Eligibility for Australian Government security clearance.
