Job Title

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our maintenance leadership team on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for Maintenance & Engineering Management statutory responsibilities for the open-cut coal mine. You will also lead the development and optimisation of maintenance strategies, specifications, and engineering standards to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective equipment performance across the site.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and deployment of strategic mechanical engineering initiatives in alignment with the Engineering and Maintenance Strategy.
  • Act as the Statutory Mechanical Engineer for the site, ensuring compliance with SHMS obligations, Recognised Standards, and legislation.
  • Represent the mechanical discipline in strategic planning sessions, including Life of Mine planning, department BARA reviews, and risk assessments.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline (i.e. Master of Engineering Management).
  • Obtained or working toward obtaining the relevant Practicing Certificate for Mechanical Engineering Manager (MEM).
  • Supervisor & Risk Facilitator competencies (S1, 2, 3 & G2, G3).
  • RPEQ accreditation in Mechanical Engineering is desirable.
  • iCam Facilitator is desirable.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodology.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, OEM knowledge (CAT & Komatsu) and heavy machinery used in mining operations.
  • Demonstrated capability in a progressive leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability in project management for a mine site (coal preferred), including leading projects whilst working independently.
  • Previous experience with SAP or a similar ERP will be desirable.
