Job Title: Infection Control Specialist

The role of an Infection Control Specialist is pivotal in maintaining the infection prevention and control programs to ensure a safe and high-quality environment within the healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and implement infection prevention and control programs to ensure safety and quality within the hospital.
  • Act as a resource and role model for all clinical and non-clinical departments regarding prevention and management of infection control risks.
  • Support the Director of Clinical Services in implementing and maintaining infection control programs, ensuring seamless integration with existing protocols.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Previous experience within Infection Control or a strong desire to enhance and develop Infection Control skills.
  • High-level critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.
  • Able to work effectively as a team member and independently when required.
  • Proficient in using computer software, including the MS Office suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a motivated, enthusiastic, and positive influence on all clinical and non-clinical disciplines.
  • Excellent work ethic and time management skills are crucial for implementing and maintaining Infection Control programs in conjunction with the Director of Clinical Services.
  • Support the growth and development of staff members in Infection Control roles, providing guidance and mentorship when needed.
  • Possess a Hand Hygiene Auditor Certificate, and postgraduate qualification in Infection Prevention & Control is highly desirable.
