Scientific Officer Role

Job Summary

The Scientific Officer will be responsible for performing diagnostic testing, conducting procedures from specimen reception to result execution, and maintaining current scientific knowledge.

This part-time role requires 22.8 hours per week, working weekdays in various shifts between 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing routine procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for pathological diagnosis.
  • Assisting with stock control and compliance with records maintenance and recording of results in line with protocols.
  • Maintaining all equipment and operating equipment in line with protocols.
  • Participating in both routine and audit related quality assurance activities.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required.
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within biochemistry and haematology is desirable.
  • Solid understanding of QC, QAP, and troubleshooting.
  • Able to identify, develop, and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification.
