
Senior Heavy Equipment Trainer

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract opportunity to join our team and play a key role in delivering high-quality, practical training and assessments across site operations.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience in heavy equipment or fixed plant operations, along with a strong understanding of industry safety standards and RTO compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver practical, face-to-face training and assessments, including Verification of Competency (VOC) for both mobile equipment and fixed plant operations
- Coordinate, implement, and continuously improve site-specific training to align with operational requirements and regulatory standards
- Develop, validate, and moderate Training and Assessment Strategies (TAS), learning resources, and assessment tools to ensure quality and compliance with RTO standards
- Regularly review and update assessments, documents and procedures to reflect current best practices as well as operational changes
- Conduct internal audits and safety inspections related to training and competency assurance, contributing to continuous improvement in safety and performance
- Provide coaching and mentoring to developing operators and new employees, fostering a culture of safety, development, and competency across site operations
- Collaborate with operational and safety teams to identify training needs and address skill gaps proactively
A minimum of 5 years' experience operating heavy equipment, specifically Dozers and Excavators, within a mining or similar high-risk environment, or a proven background in fixed plant operations, with a strong focus on industry-relevant competencies and safety protocols, is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will hold a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40120 or equivalent) or be willing to work towards it, and have experience working within a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or involvement with RTO processes, including compliance, validation, and assessment practices.
