Job Overview

We are seeking an accomplished professional to fill the role of Assistant Director in Government Relations and Advocacy.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in government relations, policy development, and stakeholder engagement.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to senior executives and stakeholders in their engagement with government, Parliament, policy departments, and other key external partners.
  • Develop and implement effective communications and engagement strategies to promote the organization's work and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Supervise and support junior staff in the team, branch, and broader organization.
  • Coordinate events and prepare materials for key stakeholder meetings or events throughout the year.
About You
  • You will have experience in a relevant field such as administration, regulation, projects, communications, and engagement.
  • You will have a demonstrated ability to plan, organise, and prioritise a demanding workload, engage and work collaboratively with others, communicate complex issues simply and clearly, and research and analyse issues to assist with developing solutions and making recommendations.
  • You will possess a sound understanding of the organisation's role, current issues in Competition and Consumer Law, and policy development.
  • You will have experience supervising and supporting junior staff to deliver key objectives.
  • You will have strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence, negotiate, and work collaboratively with team members and internal and external stakeholders.
