Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Worker Role
">The role of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Worker is to support students, teachers, and school communities in the areas of culture, spirituality, and student wellbeing and engagement. This includes promoting the intent of the Reconciliation Action Plan by liaising with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives within the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting students, teachers, and school communities in the areas of culture, spirituality, and student wellbeing and engagement.
- Promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives within the school.
- Liaising with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience and expertise working in educational settings with a focus on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
- Demonstrated experience in engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities.
- Established and ongoing links with the local and/or wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
- Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member in an educational setting.
- Qualifications and/or experience relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education and/or cultural settings.
