Job Title: Aboriginal Cultural Support Specialist

About the Role:
  • Deliver culturally sensitive mental health and wellbeing services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals through short-term counselling.
  • Provide expert guidance to organisations seeking to improve workplace mental health and wellbeing among their First Nations staff.
  • Facilitate group sessions, training programs and workshops on mental health, wellbeing and cultural competency.
  • Assist in designing and delivering educational training packages for clients.
  • Ensure that culturally sensitive services are provided to both Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Counselling and case management of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
  • Development and delivery of organisational training programs on cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Facilitation of group sessions and workshops on mental health, wellbeing and cultural competency.
  • Design and development of educational training packages for clients.
  • Collaboration with stakeholders to ensure culturally sensitive service delivery.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Counselling, Psychology or Social Work.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mental health and wellbeing support.
  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, history and contemporary issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
