About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Aboriginal Solicitor to join our team as a Family Law Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a highly purposeful program dedicated to improving the safety and security of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide quality legal advice and representation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women on family law matters, including separation, care arrangements for children, family violence orders, and property division.
  • Manage a mixed caseload of family law matters, including litigation, and provide culturally appropriate legal advice and casework to clients.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with community and partner organizations and services to support the development and strategic direction of the program.
  • Ensure consistent and reliable data entry and collection, and maintain a high level of technical competence in family law.
Requirements
  • Eligibility to hold or apply for a Restricted Practising Certificate in the ACT.
  • Experience in family law, with a deep commitment to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in a culturally safe and responsive manner.
  • Ability to work and build connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and demonstrate a personal commitment to reflection and self-care practices.
