Job Description

A welfare coordinator is a critical role that enhances the capacity of labor sending unit (LSU) staff to implement activities promoting the wellbeing of workers, their families, and communities in labor sending countries.

This position will play a key role, focusing on enabling and guiding LSU staff through training, resource development, and collaborative planning to ensure welfare support activities are integrated into broader program goals.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and implement activities strengthening LSU welfare teams' capacity to deliver welfare support, including case management capacity.
  • Establish and maintain an active community of practice among LSU welfare teams to promote peer learning, knowledge exchange, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate and facilitate opportunities for continued professional development for LSU welfare staff, enhancing their capacity to support workers and their families and engage effectively with specialist referral agencies.
  • Contribute to developing and refining standard operating procedures (SOPs) and case management tools.
  • Support LSU teams in adopting and applying SOPs and referral processes, providing guidance and resources to embed these practices into daily work.
  • Collaborate with other teams to integrate welfare considerations into broader program activities.
Key Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications or relevant work experience in social work, human services, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in case management, with background or experience in working with Pacific and Timorese communities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of case management frameworks and referral pathways.
  • Possession of a strong practice and professional judgement framework, including highly developed risk assessment and intervention planning skills.
  • Demonstrated relationship management skills, including ability to work across a team and with external stakeholders.
