Job Opportunity

We seek a highly skilled and experienced expatriate Senior Medical Officer (SMO) to lead clinical operations of a remote community medical facility in Papua New Guinea.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent Medical Services with Health Service Manager to Client, External Stakeholders and Community Members.
  • Provide Clinical and Strategic Leadership to Medical Services of the Medical Centre, Mine Site Clinic and Camp Site Clinic.
  • Direct Supervision to team of Medical Doctors, Intensive Care Paramedic and Heads of Department (Radiology, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Disease Control and Lab) for compliance with evidenced-based guidelines and standards.
  • Active involvement in patient care, including consultation, secondary review and recommendations for Medical Referrals and Medical Evacuations as required.
  • Coordinate Medical Emergencies, Medical Referrals and Medical Evacuations according to Standard Operating procedures and MERP, including coordination, communication, documentation and reporting.

Essential Criteria:

  • Medical degree and current, unrestricted license to practice.
  • Minimum ten years of experience in trauma/emergency, occupational health, family medicine and leadership roles.
  • Leadership experience in a medical setting, including remote or resource-limited environments.
  • Ability to work under pressure and provide clinical guidance in complex cases.
