This position supports teachers in delivering educational programs and fostering a supportive learning environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

The Role's Key Aspects
  • Assist teachers in implementing education programs and promoting inclusivity.
  • Liaise between the community and school to develop relevant educational programs.
  • Provide mentoring, pastoral care, and support to encourage student participation and achievement.
  • Design and implement behaviour management plans, maintain records, and provide information to parents.
  • Facilitate community contribution to school policies on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver planned education programs and promote inclusive practices.
  • Act as a liaison between the community and school to develop culturally responsive programs.
  • Provide mentoring and pastoral care to students, promoting their engagement and academic success.
  • Develop and implement behaviour management plans, maintaining accurate records and communicating with parents.
  • Support teachers in implementing educational and behaviour management programs.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency.
  • A valid Working With Children Check before starting employment.
  • Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education's Screening Unit.
