Community Support Specialist Role

This role involves providing early intervention services through home visits, case management, and counselling to vulnerable families, children, and young people at risk of developing mental illness.

The primary focus is on the wellbeing of children within families with children under 18 years old.

This is a permanent part-time position, working 4 days a week, based in Dapto and Nowra (3 days in Dapto and 1 day in Nowra).

Key Responsibilities

  • We will ensure individual client needs are met by conducting comprehensive assessments and providing family action plans that are developed with clients, clearly defined, and achievable.
  • We aim to achieve the best possible outcome for clients by advocating for them, establishing strong network links in the local area, and developing partnerships.
  • We will promote and advertise our service by creating resources, participating in community events, and collaborating with other organisations.
  • We strive to meet client targets by maintaining agreed caseloads.
  • We prioritise confidentiality by managing client information securely and ensuring documentation meets organisational, legislative, and funding requirements.

Your Qualifications and Experience

  • You should hold relevant tertiary qualifications, such as Social Work, Social Science, Counselling, or Behavioural Science.
  • You must have experience working with children, young people, and their families.
  • Prior experience in counselling children, young people, and their families is essential.
  • You should be comfortable working with clients who have experienced trauma, violence, or neglect.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary.
  • A valid paid Working with Children's Check is required.
  • An unrestricted NSW Driver's Licence is also necessary.
