About The Role

This part-time position as a Senior Case Worker-Counsellor involves delivering case management and early intervention support services to children, young people, and their families. You will work closely with the team to ensure effective service delivery in various settings, including Dapto/Nowra office, schools, and community locations.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Client Needs Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments to develop comprehensive family action plans, incorporating counselling, psycho-education, and groupwork.
  • Advocacy and Partnerships: Foster strong relationships with internal programs to achieve the best outcomes for clients, ensuring seamless referral pathways.
  • Therapeutic Intervention: Provide short-term and long-term support, including case management, community education, therapeutic group work, and counselling.
  • Cultural Competence: Demonstrate empathy and understanding of diverse cultural backgrounds, prioritising the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Community Engagement: Promote the service through community events, enhancing visibility among target groups.
  • Caseload Management: Maintain a manageable caseload to meet targets while ensuring high-quality client support.
  • Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely documentation meets organisational, legislative, and funding requirements.
  • Team Culture: Contribute to a positive team environment by actively participating in meetings, listening to feedback, and serving as a positive role model.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Counselling, Social Science, Psychology, or Behavioural Science.
  • Professional Membership: AASW, APS, ACA, or PACFA membership (organisations registered with).
  • Driver's Licence: NSW driver's licence.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children, young people, and their families, as well as supporting clients exposed to trauma, violence, or neglect.
  • Skill Set: Well-developed written, computer skills, and verbal communication skills.
