Job Opportunity

As a General Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting the general medical admission assessment of patients admitting to Ramsay Clinic Cairns as voluntary clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct systematic assessments to identify patients' needs and implement appropriate treatment in collaboration with the Visiting Medical Officer (Psychiatrist).
  • Implement evidence-based planned medical care to achieve identified outcomes.
  • Prioritise and provide medical care according to professional standards and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Provide collegial support in clinical problem-solving and act as a resource person for staff.
  • Assist with education of clinical staff and medical students within areas of expertise.
  • Participate in discharge planning and coordinate activities with other healthcare professionals to optimise patient outcomes.
  • Ensure medication prescription, management, and documentation comply with legal and hospital policy requirements.
  • Provide effective first-line management during medical emergencies and code situations, including the management of potentially aggressive patients.
Requirements
  • Current registration with AHPRA.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-graduate General Practitioner experience.
  • Competence in providing advanced life support measures.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in an acute mental health care facility is desirable.
