Job Opportunity: Aquatic Ecologist Leader

This is a key role for professionals seeking to elevate their career in aquatic ecology. The successful candidate will have opportunities to mentor junior team members, develop project plans and implement field-based data collection according to regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop an aquatic ecology team, providing guidance and support to junior team members
  • Design and implement field-based data collection strategies that meet state, territory and commonwealth regulations
  • Contribute to the delivery of projects across multiple sectors, ensuring timely completion within scope, cost and quality requirements
  • Develop clear and concise technical reports that stand up to community and regulatory scrutiny
Qualifications:
  • A tertiary qualification in ecology or environmental science related discipline, or similar relevant degree
  • Ability to build strong relationships, manage projects and contribute to business development activities
  • Knowledge and experience with aquatic fauna sampling methods, including netting, traps and electrofishing
  • Proven ability to prepare winning proposals for small to large-scale projects
  • Strong understanding of statutory frameworks, policies and science-based approaches that govern water management
