We are seeking an Aquatic Ecologist to lead our team in Brisbane. This is an exciting opportunity to elevate your career and contribute to industry-leading aquatic ecology projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage an aquatic ecology team, providing guidance and support to junior members.
  • Plan and conduct field-based data collection in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Sustain the delivery of projects across multiple sectors, ensuring they meet quality, time, cost, and scope requirements.
  • Create clear, science-based technical reports that withstand community and regulatory scrutiny.

Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification from a recognized institution in ecology or an environmental science-related discipline.
  • The ability to build relationships, manage projects, and contribute to business development activities.
  • Knowledge and experience with aquatic fauna sampling methods, including netting, traps, and electrofishing.
  • Familiarity with other aquatic ecology sampling methods, such as macroinvertebrate, diatom, and zooplankton sampling.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with statistical packages and data analysis as it relates to aquatic ecology data.
  • A proven track record of preparing winning proposals for small to large-scale projects.
  • A strong understanding of the statutory frameworks, policies, and science-based approaches that govern water management.
