About the Role

This position is responsible for conducting detailed analytical monitoring and developing technical reports on compliance with state and federal environmental regulatory permits and licenses. With responsibilities that extend across water and wastewater, this role will also provide environmental engineering/specialist scientific advice on operational activities in accordance with ISO 14001, current environmental legislation, and best practice, and company policies, procedures, and management plans.

During wet weather incidents, this role has a specific responsibility in collecting, collating, and storing data on sewerage overflows from company sewerage infrastructure, community health, and other environmental impacts so that the company can effectively report to all regulatory bodies after the incident has concluded and provide scientific feedback on customer and community concerns.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A tertiary degree qualification in environmental engineering, environmental science, or applied environmental science.
  • Demonstrated experience with integrated management systems (IMS) and the requirements of ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.
  • Sound knowledge of state and federal environmental legislation, industry guidelines, and best practices, including for vegetation and waterway management, soil erosion and sediment control, and contaminated land management.
  • Demonstrated experience in the conduct of environmental risk assessments, site investigations, and reporting on environmental incidents.
  • Ability to lead and conduct audits, prepare audit reports, and present audit findings.
  • Research and analytical skills and the ability to develop documented work procedures.
  • Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills to liaise with regulatory authorities and provide environmental advice to all levels of staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize work, and prepare project plans with minimum supervision.
  • A high level of computer literacy skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, Power BI, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as company's business management systems.
