About the Role

This position is responsible for delivering solutions to complex environmental health, compliance, and enforcement issues in the community. The successful candidate will apply highly developed knowledge to departmental investigations, applications, and approvals to achieve desired compliance outcomes.

The role will contribute to a high-performing team of experienced Environmental Health Officers and Graduate Environmental Health Officers, carrying out relevant duties and functions within the scope of environmental health. The team will work within a geographically based multi-disciplined framework, servicing environmental health, compliance, and enforcement functions within their area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or partake in proactive work with the community, partners, and stakeholders to educate and provide advice on compliance with local and state laws.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of environmental health policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other teams to achieve desired outcomes and provide expertise to other team members within the department and key contacts outside of the department.

About You

The ideal applicant will have a high level of knowledge and understanding of environmental health legislation, including the Public Health Act, Environmental Protection Act, and other relevant acts. They will be able to lead and/or partake in proactive work with the community, partners, and stakeholders to educate and provide advice on compliance with local and state laws.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the role's responsibilities and be able to demonstrate their skills, qualifications, and experience in a cover letter and resume. They will also be required to attach copies of any relevant licences and qualifications.
