Alcohol and Other Drug Practitioner Role Overview

As an Alcohol and Other Drug Practitioner, you will provide support and guidance to individuals and family members who are struggling with addiction. You will work collaboratively with participants to develop personalized treatment plans and connect them to community resources within a trauma-informed framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Care & Recovery Coordination / Counselling
    • Deliver evidence-based interventions aligned with client-centred treatment and AOD qualifications
    • Provide comprehensive case management in line with The Salvation Army models and standards
    • Develop and implement individual treatment plans with active client participation
    • Help participants access support services and advocate with providers when needed
    • Regularly monitor and review progress and outcomes; adjust plans to meet evolving needs
    • Support post-treatment planning, including personal networks, aftercare, self-help groups, and community activities

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or a related discipline
  • Relevant experience in a social services environment
  • Ability to obtain required certifications within specified timeframes
