Compassionate Support Practitioner

A passionate and skilled individual is required to provide high-quality support to children, young people, and families, ensuring their safety and well-being.

The ideal candidate will facilitate intake, screening, and placement of children and young people with foster and kinship care families, delivering assessments, crisis support, and therapeutic interventions as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and evaluate care plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Deliver evidence-based parenting programs and collaborate with community partners to support families.
  • Recruit, assess, and support foster and kinship carers, including facilitating approval processes.
  • Lead case management planning and maintain accurate client records.
  • Provide flexible, in-home support services, including after-hours and on-call duties.
  • Work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to ensure culturally safe and inclusive practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A relevant degree in social work, psychology, or related field - or equivalent experience.
  • A strong understanding of child protection, out-of-home care, and relevant legislation.
  • Skilled in care assessments and trauma-informed practice.
  • Knowledge of challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • A current driver's licence, National Police Check, Working with Children (Blue Card) and Licensed Care Service (Child Protection).
