About the Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect Initiative
The Royal Commission's recommendations highlighted the vital role of families and carers in supporting mental health. This initiative is a crucial component of Victoria's reformed mental health system, providing support to families, carers, kin, and supporters of individuals facing mental health challenges.
Our team comprises individuals with personal experience as carers, offering guidance and empowerment to those affected by mental health issues.
- Welcome new individuals to our centre
- Provide an overview of our activities
- Collect details of carers/supporters who attend the centre (if they wish)
- Assist speakers/activity facilitators with group activities
- Ensure a warm, inclusive, and welcoming approach
- Attend groups as a lived experience/carer supporter/family member
- Share experiences/strategies/knowledge during group sessions
- Participate in group work training to develop skills for co-facilitation
- Contribute ideas and reflections during group activities
- Assist with transport of carers/supporters to and from events
This is a rewarding opportunity to join a team shaping the future of mental health and wellbeing in Victoria.
What You Will Bring
- Lived experience of caring for someone with mental health challenges or psychosocial distress and recovery
- Valid Australian Driver License
- Non-judgmental, supportive attitude and ability to empathise
- Current or willingness to obtain required checks
- Evidence of right to work/volunteer within Australia
