Job Overview


We are seeking a highly experienced Rail Infrastructure Manager to join our team at Boral in Sydney. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and maintenance of our rail infrastructure, including major capital upgrades and project engineering initiatives.



About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and coordinate annual rail upgrade and maintenance programs for Boral.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to operational managers and teams on rail-related activities, including safety interface agreements and site regulator audits.
  • Liaise and manage contractors, as well as administer contracts, changes, and invoicing.
  • Prepare Request for Quotation documents and source quotations, review prices and justification, and award works.
  • Coordinate annual detailed inspections and patrol inspections by third-party providers and review resulting reports.
  • Coordinate minor and major maintenance works, including preparation of scope and specification documentation, cost estimates, and capital expenditure requests.
  • Submit proposals for capital funding as part of the capital budgeting process.
  • Ensure successful project management execution and delivery of rail maintenance and other capital projects to meet customer requirements and deliver business benefits.
  • Continuously improve rail maintenance performance and results.


About You

Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of rail freight operations with experience dealing with the Rail Regulator and knowledge of basic rail design and standards.
  • Rail accreditations and rail safety inductions preferred.
  • Qualifications in mechanical or structural engineering or similar field.
  • Contractor management experience.
  • Familiarity with the heavy industry resources/construction industry.
  • Exposure to relevant safety and project management legislation standards and methodologies.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite.
  • Able to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage competing deadlines.
