Job Opportunity: Clinical Coding Specialist

Clinical coding specialists play a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely coding of patient data, which is essential for effective healthcare management. In this position, you will be responsible for clinical coding using ICD-10-AM and assigning Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG) with high accuracy and efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Timely and accurate clinical coding using ICD-10-AM
  • Assignment of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG)
  • Participation in casemix analysis, education & quality activities
  • Staying up-to-date with current relevant clinical coding guidelines and Australian Coding Standards
  • Improvement of clinical documentation
  • Participation in audits as necessary

Requirements for the role include:

  • Authority to Work in Australia
  • HIMAA certification in Clinical Coding or equivalent, with minimum 2 years' experience using ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS
  • Experience in clinical coding across a range of DRGs with demonstrated high coding quality skills
  • Experience in ICD-10-AM 13th Edition
  • Up-to-date with current Clinical Coding guidelines and Australian Coding Standards
  • Sound understanding of Diagnosis Related Groups (AR-DRG)
  • Sound understanding of Solventum Codefinder software
  • Strong organisational skills in planning, prioritising and managing workloads
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently unsupervised and within a team environment
  • Sound Knowledge of private sector funding models
  • Demonstrated understanding in WebPAS patient information system
