Job Opportunity:

As a Public Policy Advisor, you will play a key role in advocating for initiatives that reduce road fatalities and serious injuries.

This position involves conducting research and data analysis to support policy positions, preparing reports and papers, and engaging with government and industry stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Economics, Statistics, Law, Public Policy, Planning, Social Research, or a related discipline.

They should have experience in undertaking desktop research, drafting policy positions, and collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders.

A strong background in road safety policy and excellent written and verbal communication skills are desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and data analysis to support policy positions
  • Prepare reports, papers, submissions, and communication materials
  • Develop and maintain datasets, including crash data, and analyse them using tools like MS Excel and Power BI
  • Assist with questionnaire development, analysis, and reporting for surveys
  • Engage with government, industry, and external consultants
  • Draft expert responses to road safety queries from members and external organisations
  • Represent the organisation on external committees and working groups
  • Contribute to external communications, including media releases, social media, magazine and website content

About You

We seek a skilled professional with a proven track record in advocacy, transport authorities, government, consultancy, or similar organisations.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Economics, Statistics, Law, Public Policy, Planning, Social Research, or a related discipline
  • Experience in undertaking desktop research and drafting policy positions
  • Professional experience in advocacy, transport authorities, government, consultancy, or similar organisations
  • Knowledge or experience in road safety policy (desirable)
  • Strong research and data analysis skills, including experience developing and analysing surveys (desirable)
