Job Overview

The Public Policy and Government Relations Lead is responsible for leading the strategy and team that executes integrated policy, political engagement and campaign programs in support of Western Australia operations.

This leadership role combines deep policy expertise with the ability to cultivate influential relationships across the political and regulatory landscape.

It requires a seasoned operator who can interpret complex policy environments, shape advocacy strategies, and build trust with government officials, elected representatives and policy stakeholders.

As a strategic advisor to the Asset President and other senior leaders, this role is part of the broader Corporate Affairs Leadership team and ensures alignment and integration across state and national priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of public policy and government relations strategy within Western Australia ensuring alignment with asset and organisational priorities.
  • Monitor and analyse political, policy and regulatory developments to anticipate risk and opportunity, and translate insights into strategic advocacy and campaign planning.
  • Build and maintain trusted, influential relationships with political stakeholders, government officials, and policy influencers at state and national levels.
  • Represent the organisation in high-level political and policy forums, advocating for outcomes that support long-term business success and social value creation.
  • Provide strategic advice and counsel to Asset leadership on political, policy and regulatory matters, supporting informed decision-making and risk management.
  • Lead and coach the Public Policy and Government Relations team fostering a high-performance culture and supporting professional development.
  • Oversee campaign and content development, ensuring messaging is compelling, evidence-based and aligned with the organisation's values and reputation.
