The role of Food Service Assistant plays a vital part in providing efficient, high-quality catering support services within our care environment. The incumbent is dedicated and passionate about supporting clinical and care teams in delivering nutritious meals and refreshments to residents while ensuring the highest food safety and hygiene standards.

This position works closely with the clinical and care services team to create a positive dining experience for residents, promoting their health and wellbeing.

Responsibilities:

  • Setting up each servery and dining area ready for each meal period in line with food safety guidelines
  • Preparing trolleys for tea breaks and supper
  • Cleaning according to the Food Safety Program
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of areas where food is prepared and served
  • Assisting with meal preparation when required
  • Monitoring and recording requirements of the Food Safety Plan

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in providing catering assistance or hospitality in a similar role is desirable but not essential
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Australian food safety regulations
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and accurately and to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work as a team member, prioritise and adapt to various ways of supporting residents
  • Digital literacy
