About the Role
  • Developing and maintaining detailed product specifications for agents/suppliers with clear instructions relating to fit/size, workmanship, quality, and construction details is a crucial aspect of this role.
  • Ensuring all approved apparel products meet legal, safety, and company standards by making commercial judgments in relation to products is another critical responsibility.
  • Updating and maintaining detailed technical and performance standards for key stakeholders is also an essential duty.
  • Organizing and conducting effective fit sessions to provide technical advice and corrections to fit, design, and construction to all stakeholders, delivering a 3-day turnaround from sample received date is also a significant responsibility.
  • Managing product quality as per brand DNA through store audits, customer feedback, and benchmarking industry standards is another key task.
  • Mentoring, educating, and sharing knowledge and learnings with buying teams and QA teams is also an important aspect of this role.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a product development specialist role within a wholesale or retail environment, with experience in menswear highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in woven/cut & sewn and fully fashioned knitwear product types is essential.
  • A tertiary qualification in garment manufacture and/or patternmaking is required.
  • Proficiency in Excel, formulas, and spreadsheets is necessary.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask are essential.
  • A sound understanding of body shape, grade, and proportions and a detailed eye for balance, styling, and quality is required.
  • The ability to build and maintain positive, productive relationships with multiple stakeholders and work cross-functionally is vital.
  • Confidence, enthusiasm, self-motivation, and teamwork are essential qualities for this role.
