Research Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to provide technical support to research staff and students in advanced microscopy and in methods and technologies for undertaking spatial omics research.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of postdoctoral scientists to optimise antibody panels and to acquire data using various approaches. They will be well organised, have meticulous attention to detail, be able to keep detailed records of experimental protocols and capable of coordinating data management and the downstream analysis of data.
A BSc with Honours or Masters is essential, with training in the biological sciences, molecular biology or relevant area of study. The candidate is expected to have a minimum of two years' experience in tissue preparation and staining (mouse or human).
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support to research staff and students in advanced microscopy and spatial omics research.
- Assist in the optimisation of antibody panels and data acquisition using various approaches.
- Keep detailed records of experimental protocols and coordinate data management and downstream analysis.
- Ensure equipment performance is maintained and documentation related to standard operating procedures, laboratory safety and other regulatory requirements is up-to-date.
- A Bachelor of Science with Honours or Masters in Biology or similar area of study.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent time management skills and a high level of motivation in achieving research outcomes.
- Knowledge of and experience undertaking immunohistochemical or immunofluorescence assays.
- Knowledge of advanced instrumentation for slide scanning or microscopy.
- Advanced knowledge of scientific imaging techniques and analysis methods.
- Experience in animal handling and tissue fixation and sectioning.
- Experience in confocal microscopy, spatial omics or other advanced microscopy techniques.
- Experience working in a medical research environment and in a class 2 containment laboratory.
This is a full-time position available for 2 years, with a salary of Research Support Employee (RSE) Level 5-6 ($79,629-$99,979). Up to 17% superannuation and attractive salary packaging options are available.
