Data Protection Specialist Job Description:

This is a highly specialized role that requires expertise in data protection and privacy regulations. As a Data Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for providing guidance on data protection and privacy compliance across the organization.

  • Support compliance assessments of business departments and initiatives to ensure alignment with local and international regulations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure data protection and privacy best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective data protection and privacy management.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant laws and regulations to provide expert advice and guidance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data protection and privacy laws and regulations, including the GDPR and Australian Privacy Act. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

About You:

  • A degree in law from an Australian tertiary institution or a comparable overseas qualification.
  • Qualified lawyer with 3-5 years post-admission legal experience and a current practicing certificate.

  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide guidance on data protection and privacy-related matters to employees and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key regulatory bodies and industry partners.
