Mental Health Nurse Position

The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) delivers extensive healthcare and emergency services to remote, rural, and regional Australia.

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will provide clinical care across the stepped mental health care model, working with clients living with chronic mental illness in Dubbo and Western NSW.

This role is part of the Mental Health Nurse in Practice (MHNIP) contract awarded to the RFDS by the Western NSW Primary Health Network.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating recovery-oriented services in line with current MHNIP guidelines
  • Delivering a mix of therapy and case management based on client needs
  • Collaborating with clinical and community professionals, peer workers, and administrative staff

Essential qualifications and experience include:

  • Credentialed Mental Health Nurse (ACMHN) or ability to work towards registration with AHPRA
  • Postgraduate experience as a mental health nurse in a clinical role
  • Significant experience working in rural/remote/population health
  • Experience working in cross-cultural environments and with families, couples, and groups
