About Us

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is a leading provider of fire prevention, preparedness, and response services to the built and landscape environments.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Policy Coordinator to join our team in Kedron. As a key member of our Strategic Capability Division, you will be responsible for facilitating legislative alignment within the Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ).

Your Key Accountabilities

  • Policy Development: Lead and manage the implementation of strategies and plans that facilitate legislative alignment within the RFSQ, ensuring successful delivery of projects according to departmental methodologies and timeframes.
  • Project Management: Facilitate and manage project initiatives in the analysis, review, and updating of policies, procedures, and doctrine to enable legislative alignment, identifying duplication, and ensuring realignment of doctrine products and compliance with operational and service delivery requirements.
  • Financial Management: Develop and implement financial management arrangements to support volunteers and brigades, ensuring compliance with departmental and government reporting, audit, and accountability requirements.
  • Risk Management: Support risk and issue identification, assessment, and mitigation activities by documenting, reviewing, and escalating risks and issues as appropriate.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Provide high-level advice to senior management and key stakeholders on various issues impacting or influencing the delivery of recommendations, enabling informed business decisions.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct detailed research demonstrating advanced critical analysis for early identification and resolution of issues to support legislative alignment and implement associated tasks, providing regular status reports to ensure quality outcomes, project deliverables, and milestones are achieved.
  • Communication: Develop, maintain, and foster strong relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to optimize program delivery, drive innovative solutions, and facilitate effective communication to achieve project outcomes.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Leadership Competencies: Demonstrated ability to lead teams and/or projects, stimulating ideas and innovation, and driving accountability and outcomes.
  • Experience: Knowledge and experience in the design and delivery of process and documentation change with volunteers in a legislated environment, and/or qualifications in project management or previous experience leading or working in a large complex project/program management environment.

Salary and Benefits: The salary for this position is estimated at $92,580 - $104,120 per year, based on the title, job description, and location.
