About the Role

This is a key position within our Department, responsible for delivering a high-quality library service to meet the diverse needs of children and young people. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to youth development and community engagement.

The role involves developing and implementing programs and services that promote literacy, numeracy, and lifelong learning skills. This includes building relationships with local communities, schools, and other stakeholders to identify and address emerging issues and needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and delivering engaging library programs and events for children and young people;
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with community groups, schools, and other stakeholders;
  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement departmental strategies and initiatives;
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports of program participation and outcomes;
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Library and Information Science or a related field;
  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment);
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
