Job Description

The role of Finance and Communications Administrator is a critical position within our organisation, responsible for providing financial and administrative support to the team. This involves maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, processing income and expenditure, reconciling bank transactions, and preparing annual budgets and forecasts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records using QuickBooks;
  • Processing all income and expenditure, including invoicing, payments, and reconciliations;
  • Reconciling bank transactions with bank statements and QuickBooks data;
  • Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts;
  • Supporting the Organisational Development Worker to generate financial reports for internal use and external stakeholders;
  • Preparing payroll notifications and maintaining payroll records.

In addition to these financial responsibilities, the successful candidate will also be responsible for leading on non-digital communications, including printing and distributing regular bulletins, as well as supporting volunteers who help update or engage with social media. Other key duties include purchasing materials and resources, maintaining office equipment and supplies, and assisting with inductions of new workers.

This part-time role is funded for 18 months with the possibility of extending beyond, dependent on funding. Payment is £13.68 per hour, increasing to £14.26 per hour in April 2026.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have experience with financial record keeping and basic accounting principles, as well as proficiency in using accounting software. You should also have experience of working in a communications role in a community setting to encourage participation in community activity.

Essential qualifications include GCSEs (A*-C) in English and Maths, or NVQ Level II in Business Administration, or equivalent experience of working as an administrator or business support officer. AAT qualifications are also desirable.

You will also require excellent computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office and/or Google Drive, as well as skills in QuickBooks accounting software and updating websites using content management systems.
