Job Title: Mental Health Care Specialist

About the Role:

The Mental Health Care Specialist will provide high-quality mental health services in a community setting, working with patients and families to achieve optimal health outcomes.

This role is part of a multidisciplinary team providing specialist mental health services within the community, utilising evidence-based practices and recovery principles.

  • Provides safe and clinically appropriate nursing care to patients and clients, their families and other health professionals
  • Delivers high-quality mental health services as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Works collaboratively with healthcare teams to plan, implement and evaluate patient/client care
Key Responsibilities:
  • Strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate nursing care
  • Delivers high-quality mental health services as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing specialist mental health services within the community setting for a designated client group
  • In collaboration with members of the healthcare team, plans, implements and evaluates patient/client care
  • Acts as a Mental Health Officer when required
Requirements:
  • Current knowledge of and ability to apply nursing principles, procedures and practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a designated practice area
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in mental health nursing, including assertive case management, triage, holistic physical and mental health assessment, clinical risk management and crisis intervention
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and communicate effectively with other sectors of mental health services and primary health care providers
