Design Engineer Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our Asset Design team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering design documentation and cost estimates on assigned Capital works projects.


The role involves working with various stakeholders, including internal teams and external contractors, to ensure timely completion of projects. This requires strong communication and project management skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Site Investigations: Carry out site investigations and prepare preliminary designs and reports in line with investigation requirements.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed documentation for tender and construction, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Project Management: Develop and foster good working relationships across the council and with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Tender Evaluation: Serve as a tender evaluation panel member in the selection of contractors and consultants.
  • Meetings and Committees: Participate in relevant meetings and committees, providing expertise and contributing to discussions.

Requirements:
  • Tertiary Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • C Class Driver's Licence: C Class Driver's Licence (Provisional P2 minimum)
  • WHS Certification: WHS construction induction (White Card) certification
  • Industry Experience: Minimum 3 years' industry experience working at the level of professional engineer in the design field.
  • Technical Skills: Skilled in survey, analysis, design and documentation of civil infrastructure.
  • Software Proficiency: Experienced in the application of current Australian Standards, particularly TfNSW, AUSTROADS, AUS-SPEC and Australian Rainfall and Runoff.
  • Soft Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The salary range for this opportunity starts at $104,465 (Grade H, Step 1) + CLA + 12% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.


This is a permanent full-time position with Local Government conditions, including long service leave after 5 years and annual pay increases.
