About the Role

The Assistant Principal will play a key role in supporting the Campus Principal in the daily operational management of the campus. This includes forming relationships with students, parents, and staff to monitor attendance and course completion, and supporting enrolment into identified courses.

The role is proactive in developing an understanding of the wellbeing, pastoral, and behavioural needs of our students, and works with the Campus Principal to implement and develop plans for the campuses to maximise opportunities for engagement with students.

The Assistant Principal will be responsible for promoting, developing, and protecting the vision, mission, and core values of The BUSY Schools. This includes collaborating with the Campus Principal to create a positive culture of high expectations, ensuring effective, evidence-informed teaching practices that enable student engagement, improvement, achievement, and wellbeing to thrive.

The role will also involve managing and communicating day-to-day events through calendars and notices, and organising supervisions when staff are absent to ensure they provide a suitable program for students.

About The BUSY Schools

The BUSY Schools are part of The BUSY Group, a not-for-profit organisation that has been a community partner for over 45 years. We provide employment services, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, mentoring, NDIS, disability employment support, and allied health services.

The BUSY Schools are independent Special Assistance Schools with 9 campuses across Cairns, Brisbane, and Gold Coast/Coolangatta. We provide an alternative program for Year 11 and 12 students who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.

Our team supports students to gain employability and transferability skills, increasing their sense of wellbeing, resilience, belonging, academic achievement, career exploration, and employment outcomes.
