About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Environment Advisor to join our team at Senex Energy. As a critical energy provider to Australia's manufacturing industry, we are committed to delivering essential energy for life while playing our part in the global energy transformation.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in facilitating exploration and production activities by ensuring that systems and tools are in place to ensure compliance with relevant Commonwealth and State legislative frameworks. You will also bring significant knowledge and experience in delivery of environmental approvals at a Commonwealth and State level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all regulatory environmental compliance obligations are systematically managed and assigned via the ECMS to demonstrate ongoing compliance
  • Oversee and influence internal business processes related to implementing external and internal compliance obligations, ensuring their robustness, fitness for purpose, and cost-effectiveness
  • Maintain schedules and participate in field-based environmental assurance inspections to provide transparency to the business and manage communication with key stakeholders
  • Ensure all compliance management plans are regularly reviewed and updated in accordance with compliance obligations
  • Maintain schedules for environmental assessments to provide transparency to the business and manage timelines for delivery
  • Deliver environmental constraints analysis, including desktop and on-site surveys to enable implementation of project development plans in compliance with the Senex environmental constraints protocol
  • Provide generalist environmental advice to the business regarding implementation of compliance obligations and associated record keeping
  • Manage delivery of primary environmental approvals scopes including sub-contractor and consultant project management against strategic business drivers
About You

We are looking for a team player who is also willing to roll up their sleeves to get things done. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and interact with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external to the business.

In addition, you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications within environmental science / management
  • Significant experience in the application of environmental legislation including familiarity with ISO14001 and development and implementation of environmental management systems
  • Demonstrated experience in systematically managing significant volumes of environmental compliance obligations
  • Strong background and understanding of state and federal approvals relevant to petroleum and gas
  • Excellent level of attention to detail and ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities is essential
  • A generalist environmental skillset able to be turned to the delivery of primary environmental approvals when required
  • The ability to work independently and organizing multiple activities while delivering timely results to operations and project managers
