We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Environmental Advisor to join our team at Thiess. As a key member of our sustainability team, you will play a critical role in driving excellence in environmental management across our Australian projects.
As a Principal Environmental Advisor, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring site environmental graduates and advisors, ensuring accountability for team contributions toward achieving environmental objectives. You will also provide strategic input to the Sustainability Strategy and manage its implementation across Thiess' Australian projects, including the development of annual business plans and KPIs.
Additionally, you will offer technical expertise and support to ensure compliance with client and legislative environmental requirements, while assisting sites in managing environmental contractual matters. You will also manage internal environmental audits across Australian sites, developing governance processes, and representing Thiess on key industry committees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor site environmental graduates and advisors
- Provide strategic input to the Sustainability Strategy
- Manage internal environmental audits
- Offer technical expertise and support
- Represent Thiess on key industry committees
We are looking for an experienced professional with extensive mine site experience and a strong understanding of environmental challenges in the mining industry. You will have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to convey complex concepts clearly and persuasively. You will also have high-level influencing abilities, effectively engaging stakeholders at all organisational levels, driving support for environmental initiatives.
Requirements:
- Degree in Environmental Management/Science or equivalent
- ISO 14001 environmental management system experience – development and implementation
- Experienced site environmental auditor
- Strong environmental legislative knowledge
- Sound understanding of mine site environmental issues
- Contracts Management Experience
