Senior Leadership Opportunity

The Director, Aged Care Programs is a senior leadership role that involves leading a new aged care team and overseeing the development and implementation of programs that improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing aged care.

This position reports to the Executive Director and requires managing a team and contractors while contributing to the work directly.

This opportunity allows for shaping the future of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander aged care policy and programs at the national level.

About You

Candidates must be experienced leaders with a strong background in program implementation, policy development, and stakeholder engagement.

Collaborative, supportive, and strategic thinkers are required to balance direction with hands-on delivery in complex environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and contemporary health barriers with demonstrated commitment to culturally safe practices.
  • Leadership experience including managing diverse teams and contractors.
  • Program and grant management skills with proven ability to deliver in complex environments.
  • Knowledge of aged care policy and programs.
  • High-level stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.

This role includes leading the Elder Care Support Program and representing NACCHO on national reference groups.

Engagement with governments, ACCHSs, and community stakeholders ensures culturally safe and effective aged care services.
