Senior Advisor - Aids to Navigation

As a seasoned expert in maritime infrastructure, this role demands delivering high-quality technical oversight across the construction, maintenance, and repair of aids to navigation structures and systems.

This involves leading a team of engineers to ensure efficient outputs, staff development, and welfare, while driving strategic engineering policies and documentation.

You will oversee technical assessments, reports, and specifications related to aid to navigation infrastructure, manage project planning, budgeting, and risk-based prioritisation, and provide expert advice to support project delivery.

  • Leading and managing a team of engineers to deliver high-quality results.
  • Developing and implementing strategic engineering policies, standards, and documentation to drive best practices.
  • Overseeing technical assessments, reports, and specifications related to aid to navigation infrastructure.
  • Managing project planning, budgeting, and risk-based prioritisation for aid to navigation works.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to support project delivery.
Requirements:

To succeed in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • A degree in engineering or a related technical field, with at least 5 years' experience leading technical functions. Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering governance, design processes, and technical operations.
  • In-depth understanding of structural assets within marine environments; experience with aid to navigation systems is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessment, design, and remediation of maritime infrastructure and heritage buildings.
  • Solid experience in strategic asset management, including lifecycle planning, risk management, and work program prioritisation.
  • Proficiency in using computerised asset management systems.
  • Proven leadership capability in managing high-performing teams, with a focus on capability development and effective workload management.
