
Mental Health Support Professional

This role involves providing support and guidance to individuals who are experiencing mental health challenges. The Peer Support Worker will work closely with consumers, fostering a culture of hope and resilience.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in the mental health sector and possess strong communication skills. They will be able to build rapport with consumers and provide them with the tools and resources they need to achieve their goals.

Job DescriptionAs a Peer Support Worker, you will be responsible for:
- Mentoring and supporting consumers in a person-led, strengths-focused way to promote hope and resilience.
- Building respectful, professional relationships with consumers based on conversations that draw from personal experiences and emotions.
- Informing and contributing to employees' learning and service understanding, and advocating on systemic issues impacting people living with mental health issues.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Cert IV in Mental Health Peer Work, or a willingness to complete it.
- Lived experience of your own mental illness and a rich understanding of your own processes of recovery and proactivity in managing wellbeing.
- A willingness to purposefully use your own story to help others further their own understanding of recovery.
- Ability to foster and maintain respectful, professional relationships with consumers, staff, and organisations.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and work independently.
- Computer literacy.
- Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a Working With Children Check.
- Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance.
