At Yilgarn Iron, we are restarting operations at our iron ore hub in Western Australia.

Our team is seeking an Environmental Advisor to join us in this exciting venture.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our operations comply with all relevant environmental regulations and legislation.

This includes working directly with contractors to ensure that their activities meet our environmental standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of WA environmental legislation and mine approvals, as well as excellent communication skills.

They will also be responsible for conducting inspections and audits to ensure compliance with approvals, licences, and site management plans.

Additionally, the Environmental Advisor will deliver environmental training, inductions, and toolbox sessions for site staff and contractors.

They will also support ESG initiatives and reporting, aligning site practices with corporate sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Work directly with mining and processing contractors to ensure operations comply with their environmental plans and WA legislation.
  2. Monitor contractor activities and provide guidance to maintain environmental compliance.
  3. Hands-on management of dust, noise, water, flora, and fauna on site.
  4. Respond to environmental incidents, investigate causes, and implement corrective actions.
  5. Conduct inspections and audits to ensure compliance with approvals, licences, and site management plans.
  6. Deliver environmental training, inductions, and toolbox sessions for site staff and contractors.
  7. Support ESG initiatives and reporting, aligning site practices with corporate sustainability goals.

Requirements

  • 4+ years operational mining experience, preferably iron ore.
  • Experience developing or implementing ESG programs is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of WA environmental legislation and mine approvals.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to work with contractors and site teams without friction.
  • Degree in environmental science or equivalent.
