Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly experienced professional to lead our Australasian naval liaison efforts and provide expert advice in the naval discipline.

  • The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting the team and contributing to projects that deliver commercially focused solutions and services to both internal stakeholders and external clients.

The role involves:

  • Leading the Australasian naval liaison team and actively contributing to the naval centre of expertise, helping shape naval strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure global consistency across the naval structure.
  • Serving as the primary liaison between regional government agencies and navies, strengthening our presence and strategic positioning within the sector.
  • Monitoring industry trends and competitor developments within the naval sector, identifying and recommending areas for research and future service development to enhance our competitive advantage.
  • Managing and responding to client feedback, ensuring timely implementation of actions and solutions that uphold high standards of service delivery.
  • Providing oversight to projects within the naval discipline, ensuring they meet quality standards, cost expectations, and contractual obligations.
  • Presenting deliverables to senior external clients, advising on the most appropriate solutions and offering alternatives where needed.
  • Delivering specialist guidance and technical support within the naval sector, building and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to resolve service issues and support business growth.
  • Coordinating with other business areas and regional offices to ensure consistent development and delivery of commercial and service solutions.
  • Translating business plans into actionable objectives, driving system, process, and procedural improvements within the business area.
  • Mentoring and coaching team members to promote effective knowledge transfer, skill development, and high performance.
  • Ensuring operational systems, processes, and procedures are robust, efficient, and aligned with internal business needs and external client expectations.

Requirements

  • A degree or equivalent qualification from a tertiary institution recognized by us in a relevant engineering or physical science discipline (minimum two-year program), or qualifications from a marine or nautical institution with relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship's officer.
  • Membership in a relevant professional institution.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, appropriate to the requirements of the role.
  • A strong understanding of project management principles, supported by relevant training and hands-on experience.
  • Prior experience in managing budgets.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the naval sector, including its operational and regulatory landscape.
  • Proven experience in successfully leading and managing teams.
  • Demonstrated involvement in business and strategic planning processes.
  • Experience in managing commercial or naval client accounts, with a focus on relationship building and service delivery.
