Occupational Health and Safety Role

This is a challenging opportunity to contribute to our organization as an Occupational Health and Safety Officer. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of the Internal Responsibility System within all workplaces in an assigned district.

You will provide information, advice and guidance to employers, contractors, employees, unions, equipment suppliers, and professionals with respect to their duties and responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.

As the Occupational Health and Safety Officer, you will report directly to the Regional Director and work collaboratively with Labour and Management to achieve the highest possible standard of safety and health in the workplace.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct workplace inspections and complaint investigations as well as investigations of accidents, incidents and allegations of discriminatory action, as assigned by the Regional Director.
  • Ensure compliance by issuing orders and initiating prosecution action.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A high school diploma as well as a related trade or technical training in the area of specialty (Occupational Health & Safety) with 7 years of related experience after the course completion.
  • The ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, exhibiting collaborative behaviors.
  • Professional discretion, management of competing interests, and maintenance of effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in various computer programs, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
