Occupational Health and Safety Expert

The role of an Occupational Health and Safety Officer is to ensure the effective implementation of the Internal Responsibility System within all workplaces in a designated district.

  • Conduct thorough workplace inspections, investigations of accidents and incidents, and complaints as assigned by senior management.
  • Ensure compliance through issuing orders and initiating prosecution actions when necessary.

Key qualifications for this position include:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and related trade or technical training in occupational health and safety
  • At least 7 years of relevant work experience after completing the required education
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of tools

Job Responsibilities:

As an Occupational Health and Safety Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that employers, contractors, employees, unions, equipment suppliers, and professionals understand their duties and responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations. This includes providing information, advice, and guidance on a range of topics related to occupational health and safety.

Required Skills:

To succeed in this role, you must have excellent problem-solving skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and possess strong analytical and organizational abilities. The ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, exercise professional discretion, and manage competing interests is also essential.
