Occupational Health and Safety Professional

We are seeking a skilled professional to fill the role of Occupational Health and Safety Officer in our organization. As an integral member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of the Internal Responsibility System within all workplaces.

  • You will provide information, advice and guidance to employers, contractors, employees, unions, equipment suppliers, and professionals with respect to their duties and responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
  • As the Occupational Health and Safety Officer, you will assist Labour and Management through compliance and promotion to work cooperatively to affect the highest possible standard of safety and health in the workplace.
Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be independently responsible for conducting workplace inspections and complaint investigations as well as investigations of accidents, incidents and allegations of discriminatory action, as assigned by the Regional Director.

You must be able to work irregular hours, travel, and have access to a reliable vehicle. A valid driver's license is also required.

Requirements:

To be considered for this position, applicants must have completed high school as well as a related trade or technical training in the area of specialty (Occupational Health & Safety) with 7 years of related experience after the course completion.

You must be able to work both independently and as a member of a team, exhibiting collaborative behaviors. The ability to exercise professional discretion, manage competing interests, and maintain and build effective stakeholder relationships is critical.
