About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at headspace, a National Youth Mental Health Foundation. As a key member of our team, you will work with students to ensure they can successfully engage and participate in their education through classroom and other school-based activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with students to identify sensory processing and/or sensory modulation difficulties and create class implementation plans for teachers to respond to.
  • Teach emotional regulation skills to students and facilitate social skills training and communication skills training (individual and groups).
  • Manage a caseload of students and collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including Child Protection, Tertiary Services, Youth Justice, and other mental health community services.

Requirements

  • Minimum of tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and AHPRA registration.
  • Sound knowledge of current theory and practice in occupational therapy.
  • Highly developed listening and communication skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage own workload and set priorities without supervision.
  • Knowledge of typical and atypical childhood development.
  • Capacity to engage and form positive relationships with children, particularly children with developmental differences.
